⚖️ Honest Comparison

FormLM vs Pointerpro

Two assessment engines that both write a report per respondent — packaged for very different buyers. A Pointerpro alternative with per-person reports at $19/mo, not €2,499/yr.

TL;DR

Pointerpro is the most focused product in this niche, and it is not a general form builder you're comparing here — like FormLM, it turns your methodology into a scored assessment that produces a personalized report for every respondent. It does that well: a drag-and-drop report builder, PowerPoint export, ISO 27001 certification, and a genuine distribution portal for partner networks. The difference is packaging, not philosophy. Personalized reports only exist from the Core plan (from €2,499 / $2,799 per year) — Pointerpro's own Lite plan explicitly excludes them — everything above Lite is billed annually, and every tier includes exactly one user. FormLM ships branded personalized PDF reports on a $19/month plan. For an independent consultant, coach, or trainer, that gap is the whole review.

Choose Pointerpro if…You need procurement-grade evidence (ISO 27001, EU data residency) or a portal where a partner network sells your assessments under a credit system.
Choose FormLM if…You want the same deliverable — a scored, interpreted PDF per respondent — at self-serve price, billed monthly, with pay-as-you-go AI credits.

Pointerpro figures read from its public pricing page in October 2026 — plans and add-ons change, so verify on the vendor's site. We don't use competitor logos; all product names belong to their respective owners. Also on our side: the finished PDF report is auto-emailed to the respondent when they leave an address (with a per-recipient daily cap). Known shortfalls we won't hide: no collaborator seats, contact management is a Pro feature, and no data-retention policy or audit log yet. Badge policy (three tiers, server-enforced): Basic keeps the FormLM badge; Plus and Pro can swap it for custom brand text or hide it entirely as white label.

Where Pointerpro Genuinely Shines

Four things Pointerpro does that we simply don't — read these before you shortlist us.

🛡️ Procurement-grade security evidence

ISO 27001:2022 certified, hosted on AWS in Ireland with an Australian option, GDPR compliant, with automated data retention and deletion. When a client's data-protection officer has to sign off, a certificate beats any feature table — including this one.

🕸️ A real distribution portal

Owner-to-coach role hierarchy, campaigns, a credit system, and separate Customer and Contact Zone roles. If you license your assessment through a network of coaches who each deliver reports to their own clients, that portal is built for exactly this. FormLM has no equivalent.

📈 Framework scale-up analytics

Formulas, aggregate reports, Dashboard Builder, and longitudinal tracking on Plus — the layer you need when one proprietary framework runs across dozens of clients over several years, not when you're one person billing one client.

🤝 They build your first project

On Plus, onboarding includes their team constructing your first assessment for you. And the report itself is assembled in a drag-and-drop builder with HTML, printable, and PowerPoint output — nothing about the deliverable is a black box.

Where FormLM Pulls Ahead

Same deliverable, radically different access price — and a different way of producing the text.

1
The report is our entry product, not their enterprise tier

Pointerpro's Lite plan lists "personalized reports not included" on its own pricing page. To get one report per respondent you need Core, from €2,499 or $2,799 a year — roughly $233 a month, against our $19. Same deliverable, about twelve times the access price for a solo practice.

2
Interpretation that scales, instead of advice you hand-write

Pointerpro's personalization is advice you author per outcome band; AI help around it (prompt-generated assessments, ghost-respondent simulator, AI visualization) sits on Plus. FormLM's AI writes each respondent's analysis from your scoring model at roughly 7–20 credits per report, with top-ups from $5 per 100. For twenty respondents a year that difference is invisible. For four hundred, it is the product.

3
No annual lock-in and no one-user ceiling

Above Lite, Pointerpro bills annually only, and Free, Lite, Core, and Plus each include exactly one user — teams are a conversation, not a plan. FormLM Plus can be paid monthly or yearly and switched anytime, and the free plan is permanent rather than a 14-day countdown with 20 responses.

4
Start from a working template

Pointerpro deliberately sells no ready-made assessments — "your expertise is what makes your assessment valuable" — which is a defensible philosophy and a cold start for beginners. FormLM's template library lets you clone a live training-evaluation or diagnostic structure and edit it into your own methodology.

5
Add-ons that don't appear on the bill

On Pointerpro's pricing table, extra question types, formulas, integrations, webhooks and API, payment processing, SSO, email white-labeling and the media library are all paid add-ons. On FormLM, conditional logic, CSV export, and webhooks ship on the free plan, and branding plus unlimited applications ship on Plus.

Who Should Choose What

Choose Pointerpro if
  • Your buyer's compliance team requires ISO 27001 evidence and EU data residency
  • You license assessments through a network of coaches and need the distribution portal
  • One framework must run across many clients with formulas and aggregate dashboards
  • You want their team to build your first assessment for you
Choose FormLM if
  • You are the consultant, coach, or trainer — and you're the only user for now
  • You want a personalized, interpreted PDF per respondent without a €2,499 entry price
  • You'd rather pay for AI analysis per report than pre-buy an annual license
  • You want to start from a template and keep free access while you test the offer

🏃 The trainer's take

If you run training programmes, this is the sharpest corner of the comparison.

Pointerpro assumes a licence-scale operation: personalized reports need Core, and longitudinal tracking plus aggregate reports need Plus. A trainer running one cohort at a time is buying an enterprise ladder to do a solo job.

On FormLM the same flow costs one monthly plan: collect the pre- and post-session responses, set the dimension bands, and send every participant a personal PDF while the training evaluation form template keeps the cohort-level comparison in one document.

Also worth knowing for EU-based trainers: Pointerpro can build an assessment in any language through AI, but duplicating one assessment and its report into several languages requires the Plus plan and manual translation. If you deliver in two languages, ask before you assume.

FormLM vs Pointerpro — FAQ

Can Pointerpro generate personalized reports?

Yes, and it is one of the best at it: a drag-and-drop PDF report builder, dynamic printable reports, and PowerPoint export. The catch is packaging — personalized reports start at the Core plan (from €2,499 or $2,799 per year). The Lite plan at €99/$109 per month explicitly excludes them. FormLM includes branded personalized PDF reports from $19/month.

Is Pointerpro more secure than FormLM?

On paper, yes, and it is verifiable: ISO 27001:2022 certification, AWS hosting in Ireland (or Australia), GDPR compliance, automated data retention and deletion, 2FA. FormLM does not advertise an ISO certificate; we run HTTPS with per-account data isolation. If your buyer's compliance checklist requires that certificate, Pointerpro is the right answer — we won't pretend that gap away.

How does Pointerpro's pricing compare to FormLM?

Lite is €999/year or €99/month ($1,099 / $109) with 10 assessments, 1,000 responses a month, and no personalized report. Core starts at €2,499/$2,799 a year for unlimited assessments plus reports. Plus starts at €4,499/$4,999 and adds formulas, 360-degree assessments, aggregate reports, Dashboard Builder, longitudinal tracking, and a distribution portal. Above Lite everything is billed annually, and every tier includes exactly one user. FormLM Plus is $19/month or $199/year with branded reports and unlimited applications.

What is Pointerpro better at than FormLM?

Running a licensing network: a distribution portal with Owner-Coach role hierarchy, campaigns, and a credit system. Scaling one framework across many clients: formulas, aggregate reports, dashboards, and longitudinal tracking. Plus procurement evidence (ISO 27001), onboarding where their team builds your first project, and PowerPoint export of reports. FormLM has no equivalent for any of those.

Can I move a Pointerpro assessment to FormLM?

Yes. Export your responses as CSV or Excel so you keep the history, then rebuild the questionnaire in FormLM's AI builder: paste your questions, describe the dimensions and bands you score on, and it generates the scoring logic together with a report template. Reports generated afterwards are metered in AI credits.
