💡

About this template

Delighted customers still churn when getting things done is hard. This short survey applies the Customer Effort Score approach — "how easy was it to handle your request?" on a 1–7 scale — followed by one question about what made it hard, so support and service teams can rank friction sources and remove effort, not just chase satisfaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does CES differ from CSAT or NPS?
CSAT rates satisfaction with one interaction, NPS measures overall loyalty. CES asks the narrowest, most actionable question: how much work did this cost the customer?
Why 1–7 instead of 1–5?
The common CES scales (for example Gartner’s work on customer effort) use seven points to separate "somewhat easy" from "very easy"; you can switch to 1–5 if your team prefers.
When should it be sent?
Immediately after one interaction closes — mid-issue surveys capture noise, not effort.
One question is enough, right?
The core CES item plus one friction follow-up is the proven minimum; every extra question costs response rate, so keep additions rare.
Can I compare effort across channels?
Yes — the channel tag lets you see whether chat really takes less effort than email for the same request type.
Can support teams reuse it every quarter?
Yes. Copy it per team, channel or quarter.
